We jumped at the chance to pick a barrel of Jeppson's bourbon from our friends at CH Distilling in Chicago.  CH purchased the Carl Jeppson's Company in 2018 and shortly after released the Jeppson's bourbon label.  Sourcing their bourbons from Tennessee and Indiana, Jeppson's Bourbon has quickly gained a respected following in the whiskey community.

After one of our toughest tasting sessions to date, we landed on two barrels that we all really loved.  We chose this 6-year Straight bourbon distilled by Midwest Grain Products in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for its balance of bold assertive flavor and elegant palate texture.  On the nose, the drinker is greeted with the classic baking spice and warm oak that the MGP 21% high rye mash bill is world renowned for.  The first sip is waves of vanilla custard and caramel that is backed by rye spice, light cherry, and fig.  What really sets this barrel apart from others is the exceptional oily feel and viscosity, it's like drinking dessert in a glass. Weighing in at 58.1% abv, this uncut and unfiltered bourbon has the dynamic character to appease the most discerning palate while also showcasing pleasing drinkability that anyone can enjoy.
